Race 1 – Chester Racecourse
BOARDMAN is a C&D winner who enters off the back of a Hereford win in late April. He’s up 2lb but has Jim Crowley taking over in the irons and looks in a spot to double down. BOOSALA is respected as a consistent Willie Haggas charge who could strike but has work to do off top weight.
Top Tip – BOARDMAN (7)
One to consider – BOOSALA (1)

BARYSHNIKOV has 2 wins from 3 C&D outings and made a strong comeback when victorious at Pontefract a month ago. He looks like he’s in a spot to get a nice unbeaten streak going. CAP FRANCAIS was a respectable winner in a valuable Newmarket handicap at the end of April and has to be considered with Ben Curtis in the plate.
Top Tip – BARYSHNIKOV (7)
One to consider – CAP FANCAIS (3)
Race 3 – Chester Racecourse
SOLID STONE notched a nice double at this level last year and does good work off a break so gets a nod in a small field. MEGALLAN has accounted for the selection in the past, including at this level at Salisbury last August. He’s not going down without a fight here but will do well off 7lb worse off.
Top Tip – SOLID STONE (5)
One to consider – MEGALLAN (4)

SOLENT GATEWAY was denied into 3rd by half a length on yard bow for Hugo Palmer over 12f at Epsom last month. He’s going way up in trip here and can put his staying ability to good work. FALCON EIGHT is the defending champion of this race and is reunited with Frankie Dettori to press the double. Fighting fit for a comeback over hurdles in Ireland, he’s gearing up for a battle.
Top Tip – SOLENT GATEWAY (14)
One to consider – FALCON EIGHT (1)
Race 5 – Chester Racecourse
KING’S LYNN landed the spoils at Listed level twice last season and has posted some strong comeback efforts after long breaks. He’s out of pole positon here and has David Probert back in the saddle for Her Majesty and Andrew Balding. FLAMING RIB is expected to step up for Hugo Palmer now returning to sprints where he did very well as a juvenile for Tom Dascombe.
Top Tip – KING’S LYNN (1)
One to consider – FLAMING RIB (7)

BAMBOO BAY needed the run when 5th at Catterick back in April after 135 days off. He’s proven himself already over this trip and looks likely to have plenty of improvement on the cards. ICONIQUE made a pleasing return to action in 3rd at Windsor sporting a first-time hood. She could have more to come but a note is made of the inexperience of her rider.
Top Tip – BAMBOO BAY (11)
One to consider – ICONIQUE (15)
Race 7 – Chester Racecourse
AURIFEROUS has struck a ripe vein of form, winning narrowly at Southwell on comeback in March before a couple of narrow defeats into 2nd. An up in trip looks key to getting him another score for Andrew Balding. HAVEYOUMISSEDME doesn’t often run a bad race and had a fruitful time last season. He was a good 3rd on comeback and looks likely to be in the mix here off the same mark.
Top Tip – AURIFEROUS (6)
One to consider – HAVEYOUMISSEDME (4)
