Race 2 – Chelmsford Racecourse
CAPITAL THEORY showed his best yet when 3rd at Southwell over 11f. With that under his belt he could prove a tough nut to crack now headed back to the maidens with William Buick in the irons. MAYFAIR GOLD went down by a head over the mile at Kempton and is entitled to shoot for compensation now tackling 10f.

BUXTED TOO notched a narrow but decent success over C&D in early October and has been handed a modest 4lb rise. He has won off 7lb higher in the past and should be able to make the most of this mark. THE MENSTONE GEM missed a hat trick when downed by a length into 3rd at Wolverhampton latest. Another go off 1lb higher can see him make a fair compensation bid.

JILLY COOPER has won 3 of her last 4 and was denied a double over C&D latest by just a length after dead-heating at Wolverhampton. A 1lb higher mark can see her make things right for Mark Johnston. GRANARY QUEEN has been in good form on the AW of late and can feature off an unchanged 72 rating.

ARAIFJAN couldn’t live up to market favouritism when having to settle for 2nd the last twice. That said, he is still a useful sort and can make another solid effort in a slightly weaker contest. SENSE OF SECURITY made a solid return from wind surgery when ¾ of a length 2nd over this trip at Kempton. A 1lb higher perch can see her go one better for George Baker.

ADMIRABLE LAD could prove hard to beat as he enters in the form of his life. He has won his last 3 and shouldn’t be troubled by the 75 day absence or a 2lb higher mark. ALAFDHAL is on the radar on return to 6f after not being far beaten over 7f at Kempton last month.

REIGNING PROFIT unlocked strong improvement to convincingly open his account at Wolverhampton when fitted with a first-time visor. Various headgear has been tried of late and he seems to have found the right fit. There can be more to come off 8lb higher. LA ROCA DEL FUEGO could prove dangerous as a C&D winner who was denied by a head over this trip at Lingfield when last seen and now has a 7lb claimer aboard.

MISS BELLADONNA has shown up well after a break in the past and had excuses when 7th when last seen back in July. She launches from pole position and returned to the C&D of her maiden win back in May. THAKRAH was hampered at Kempton late and could bounce back dropped back in trip and also returned to her ideal C&D. She has a wide draw to handle but is down 2lb and paired with Rossa Ryan.

MICHAELA’S BOY was a fetching winner over this trip at Newcastle when dropped after a couple of mediocre efforts over 6f there. He has been handed a hefty 8lb rise but can go well for Mick Appleby. GRACE ANGEL was an authoritative winner over this trip at Southwell last month and is a likely danger, despite 10lb more on her back. Blinkers did her well and she can’t be ruled out.
