Race 2 – Brighton Racecourse
JACKMEISTER RUDI was a touch unlucky when 3rd over slightly shorter at Brighton. With improved conditions here we might see him take another step forward. ACCELERANDO had trouble in the run when 3rd at Wolverhampton latest and did well to come within ½ a length of the front. Off 1lb higher with Marco Ghiani returning to the saddle we could see a big effort.

THE LAMPLIGHTER was held up at a key moment on his comeback run at Goodwood, having to settle for 2nd by a nose. The 1lb rise is workable as he lines up for due compensation and with a bit of luck, can get it. BATCHELOR BOY whipped up some excellent late work to land the spoils over 7f here by a nose at 20/1 odds latest. He’s capable of another strong posting off 3lb higher.

THINK TRIGGER showed his best to date when 4rd at Kempton over the mile. A further up in trip off 1lb lower can see him in a good spot to open the account. RIVAS ROB ROY does some good work here and has to be respected having landed 2nd here the last twice over the mile.

JUNOESQUE won over 10f here narrowly before being sent off over 12f. She was remarkably impressive when victorious with 11 lengths in hand. A similar effort is likely to be too good, even under a modest 4lb penalty. TORBELLINO can fill the runner-up berth following a narrow short-head defeat on return to the flat at Lingfield latest.

GRANARY QUEEN is forgiven a somewhat lacking 7th at Chepstow to the reopposing Darvel. She’s 5lb better off this time and her prior form suggests she can recover from the hiccup. COVERT MISSION is in a ripe pocket of form, having won 3 of his last 6, including latest at Lingfield following a neck defeat by the selection.

OTAGO looked like if he had more run he would have scored when beaten a head at Lingfield 6 days ago. While sent over the same trip today, he also gets to jump off the same rating and can make amends with Charlie Bennett retained in the plate. COOL VIXEN has struck some decent form since joining Robyn Brisland and is respected on return to the turf.
