Keeneland:
Race 1: 2nd@ 2.60/1
Race 3: 7th@ 14.30/1
Race 5: 1st@ 0.60/1 ?????
Race 8: SCRATCH
Windcracker got our day started running into Extreme in Race 1 and Extreme was extremely good, drawing away at the end to win. Windcracker was second best today. In Race 3, Lady Brielle stalked the pace on debut and checked in 7th without mustering much of a run. She’ll benefit from the start. In Race 5, our blue-blooded first time starter – Marr Time won like a good thing and lived up to all the hype gunning to the lead and drawing away late. I’m praying a few of our members got the 5/2 morning line because we got 3/5 odds here in the US.
We’re going to stay at Keeneland for Friday’s races and right now there’s a 50/50 chance of rain for the Friday card. With rain likely on Thursday we’ll be handicapping for off the turf on Friday once again. Let’s get to the action:
Keeneland:
Race 1: Money Mike – 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 3/1)
We’re going for it right from the jump on Friday with Race 1, horse 1 – Money Mike. This blue blooded runner was purchased for $600k with one of the top sires in the game out of a multiple graded stakes winning dam. This runner had the misfortune of running into Flightline first time out. Flightline has run two of the most spectacular races you’ll ever see from a young horse and nobody was beating him that day. He’s been given a new trainer (27% wins this meet) and has been working well for his local debut. This one looks well meant and the 3/1 morning line will probably be closer to 6/5 by post time so lock in 3/1 if you can. Our money will be on Money Mike to start our day at Keeneland.
Race 2: Star Alignment – 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
Maidens go a route of ground here and our choice – Star Alignment didn’t show much first out. But this full brother to multiple Graded stakes winning Bonny South who is likely to improve with added distance. Bobby South also failed while sprinting first time out and improved as they added distance. This runner shows two bullet workouts since her debut and top rider – Florent Geroux stays right here. A major threat at 6/1.
Race 8: Sweet Dani Girl – 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)
Two year old fillies line up for the Myrtlewood stakes and the 84 speed figure Sweet Dani Girl put up on debut is 9 points higher than the next closest runner in the field. Low profile connections will kee the price more honest than it would normally be but she put in a professional looking run to wear down the heavy favorite – another Chad Brown beast. Certainly wasn’t expected at 45/1 odds. While we won’t get 45/1 today if you can get 5/1 odds you’re looking pretty good.
